**How this was reviewed.** I could not drive a live browser. The Playwright server timed out, and every command that would launch one needed an approval nobody was present to grant. This critique reads the current source, which fully specifies the structure, motion, interaction and the 390 breakpoint, together with the 1440 hero capture that matches the current build and the earlier full-page capture of the template it replaced. Anything I could not confirm visually is marked as read from the code.

**A. The aesthetic.** A dark editorial consulting page: one real portrait refracted into uneven vertical folds under a deep green wash, acid yellow as the single accent, big low-contrast serif, mono labels, sheared seams, one black fold carrying a long statement, and a green-to-acid gradient as the exit.

**B. The bar.** A top studio would make the refraction the operating system of the whole page, not a hero effect. The portrait splits into folds on screen one. The black fold is screen two, and the statement paints in on scroll. From there every section background steps one notch along the same green-to-acid ramp the slabs already carry, so the acid gradient at the bottom is the destination the reader has been travelling toward. Six sections, not ten. Every seam shears, and the shear angle is the same angle as the slab edges. One duotone recipe on every photograph, one mono label style, one serif at two sizes. The navigation is a single index overlay, and nothing else competes with it. Motion is scroll-linked and stops when the reader stops. Hover and click change the image, not just the text. At 390 the folds re-cut and the headline still bleeds.

**C. Ranking, best first.**
1. Sunrise, ref-5. One circle, ruled lines, coral inside prose. Total restraint and total confidence.
2. Polyteia, ref-1. Saturated palette, grain gradients, data set as poster. Loud but every element belongs.
3. Meridian, ref-2. Didone plus duotone gradients and clipped portraits. Many ideas, slightly crowded, all resolved.
4. This site. The hero and the black fold are the strongest two screens in the set. The eight screens after them are a well-labelled template.
5. Hogrene, ref-3. Tasteful lime and lilac system, but the web mock is a generic stock landscape.
6. Optiva, ref-4. The direct model, and a template: team stock photo, standard stack, cards.

**D. Gaps to the bar.**

Structure and sequence:
- Ten sections in nearly the v0 template order. Hero, statement, rooms, work, voices, method, Erin, engagements, questions, contact, footer. The brief asked which sections exist and in what order. Cut to six: hero, statement, work with the two rooms inside it, Erin with the quotes beside her, engagements with the questions folded in, contact.
- Backgrounds oscillate instead of progressing. Deep, black, deep, bone, grey, deep-2, deep, bone, grey, gradient, black. Step them along the slab ramp so the gradient end is earned.
- The shear appears on five seams and the other five butt square. Either every seam shears or the shear marks exactly one kind of transition.
- The fold system exists only in labels. The statement is tagged "Fold 00" and nothing after it looks like a fold. Drop the label or make sections read as folds.
- The stats strip under the hero is the v0 stat row surviving. The earlier capture shows the seam cutting through its third cell. Remove it. The hero already has an eyebrow, a headline, a lede and two buttons.

Interactivity:
- Three navigation systems: fixed bar with progress line, right-side tick rail with hover labels, index overlay. Keep the index and the progress line. Delete the rail.
- The acid "Book a call" in the nav sits 30px above the acid "Book thirty minutes" in the hero on first paint. Show the nav button only once the bar is stuck.
- The founders and partners tabs swap text and a photo with a small fade. Nothing else moves. Make the section background follow the photo treatment, acid duotone for one room and green for the other.
- Opening a work row reveals a thermal noise block that is the same filter translated five times. Replace with a specific artefact per face set in mono, or remove.
- The quote rail is a drag carousel with round arrows, a progress bar and a "Drag" hint. Set one quote per view at full width in the serif and let the page scroll.
- The questions section is native details with a chevron. Merge into engagements or set as a two-column list with no disclosure.
- Hover language is identical everywhere: fill swap and a 4px arrow nudge. The index links get a padding shift. Nothing on hover changes an image.

Motion:
- The hero entrance is the good part. Three masked lines with a short stagger, slabs sliding into place with per-slab delay, then a scroll parallax on the slabs as you leave. Keep.
- The scan line is an eleven-second infinite loop on screen blend. It is the only motion with no meaning. Cut.
- Every block carries the same fade-up reveal with three delay steps. Reserve it for two moments or remove it.
- The statement word-paint with the two leading words in acid is the one scroll effect that fits the brief. Keep, lose the "Keep scrolling" label.
- The Erin photo wipes top to bottom. The page's vocabulary is vertical slabs. Wipe in as slabs.
- The method track fill and lit dots are standard and fine.

Type, color, imagery, spacing:
- The h1 is two scales inside one element. The first two lines read as a caption to the third. Either all three lines run at the mega scale, or the first two become the eyebrow.
- Fourteen mono label styles exist, from 9.5px to 12px with four tracking values. Collapse to two.
- Body copy at roughly half-opacity bone on deep green is low contrast for long paragraphs.
- A fourth green, #1F6B4C, labels every light section. It reads as another brand. Use ink or the dark acid.
- Acid plays ten roles: accent word, buttons, progress, rail tick, tab underline, dots, numerals, chip, selection, stat numerals. Cut to three so it accents again.
- Three duotone recipes plus a thermal recipe. Pick one photo treatment for the whole page.
- Captions narrate the treatment: "false colour", "deep green wash". The design should not explain itself.
- No image after the Erin section. The last forty percent is text on flat panels. Put one more type-over-photo moment before the gradient.
- Every section opens with the same eyebrow pair and a 64px serif h2 in the same position. Ten identical openers.

Phone view, read from the CSS, not seen:
- The method heading block stays sticky under 960 wide while the grid is single column. On a phone it pins over the steps and covers them. Set it static below the breakpoint.
- The three-part eyebrow wraps to two or three lines of caps at 390. Cut to one label.
- The 2x2 stats grid under the hero adds a fourth layer of UI beneath the headline on a small screen.
- The two tabs sit side by side at 390 and "You never planned to manage" wraps to three lines, so the tabs are unequal heights.
- The thermal block stacks full width at 5:4 on phone, a large square of noise with no purpose.
- The slab re-cut, the bigger shear, and the headline still bleeding off the right are the right decisions and the rule-break survives on phone.

**E. Overdone or templated patterns, each penalized.**
- Numbered mono eyebrow on every section. The most recognizable generated-site tell here.
- Fade-up on scroll on every element with staggered delays.
- Grain overlay plus duotone plus a moving scan line. The cinematic dark-mode stack.
- Plus-minus accordions with rows that slide right on hover.
- Drag carousel with round arrows, a progress bar and a "Drag" hint.
- Right-edge tick rail with hover labels.
- "Keep scrolling" label.
- Thermal noise used as decorative data texture.
- Italic accent word closing a headline, used four times.
- Hero stat strip with acid numerals.
- Buttons with arrows that nudge on hover, three variants.
- Four-column footer titled Practice, More, Contact.
- "Send the mess" is carried over from the v0 template copy.

**F. Commitment and score.** The brief is met on its named points: real portrait under a green wash, pushed further into folds, acid accent, a whole black fold with one long serif statement, pale grey quote cards, sheared seams, a gradient end, no drawn prism, and a rule broken so that it shows on both widths. The half-measures are that the refraction idea lives only in the hero and the seams, the section order is the template's order, three photo recipes replace one, three navigation systems replace one, and the light sections borrow a template green. Leftover defaults are the stats strip, the native FAQ, the footer grid and the button family.

The top two screens are 8-level work: original, confident, and the bleed-off headline is a rule broken well. The remaining screens are a 5: a competently labelled template. A director would say the first two screens are the site, and would send the rest back to be rebuilt in their image.
